PROMO SCHEDULE PLANNING
No fan would ever realize how much goes into planning your promotional schedule. Promotions are sexy but planning them isn't. You develop a budget, brainstorm and research ideas, analyze past promotions and corresponding ticket sales, and then sell sponsorships wondering the whole time what will sell you the most tickets and result in highest merchandise and F&B sales? Why don't you ask the people who spend their money with you? Engage your fans and create some hype as you plan for your upcoming season. If they are involved not only will they buy your tickets they'll help sell them by chatting you up.
10 years ago in Reading we had a bobblehead campaign. We knew we wanted to do a bobblehead but of who; a past player, a mascot, another ballpark character? You eventually get punch drunk in endless meetings and talk about doing your GM or your groundskeeper. We laughed at some of the ideas until we decided that we might be onto something. We created a list, shot campaign videos and let the fans vote. Read the Baseball America article profiling the Crazy Hotdog Vendor and the surrounding promotions.

As a side note, I giggled so much filming my campaign video that I was never asked to do a commercial again but the videos got our fans engaged and the voting gave us our research. Did I win? Do I ride an ostrich and throw free hotdogs??? I'm sure we would have ended up doing a bobblehead of the hotdog man anyways but the Bobblehead Campaign gave us offseason excitement.
